Insurance History
Insuring highly expensive Indy Type Racing Cars was conceived by me in 1993 the year that I retired from Indy Car racing. At that time there was only one Major Open Wheel series in the USA. The CART Indy Car series and Two minor series the Formula Atlantic Series and the Indy Lights series.

I wanted to remain involved with racing after my retirement and created the idea to insure the Indy type race cars for crash damage. For six months I researched and compiled an actuarial that covered the years 1989 through 1993. I had both crash damage data for every track and the cost of the repairs. I went to London UK with this information and presented the idea to the underwriters at Lloyds of London and other London companies. My insurance program was successfully presented and they agreed with the idea to insure the cars. That was the start of my insurance program.
With my unique and comprehensive knowledge of racing and race car construction I was the ideal person to perform the claims administration for the program. Claims Management is the key to success for both the underwriting companies and the team owners.
The coverage is similar to a combination of traditional automobile collision and comprehensive coverages. Basically it covers the race cars for Collision, Upset and Fire while on the racetrack. This includes practicing, qualifying and racing. Testing coverage is an option.
This coverage is known as "On Track Physical Damage."
Over the years, I have expanded my business and branched out to all areas of Motorsports insurance. I now offer General Liability, Personal Accident, Prize Indemnity, Workers Comp, Disability and all necessary foreign coverage as well as Owner & Sponsor Liability. In addition I offer Participant Accident coverage for race facilities.
